Julie Goldman founded Motto Pictures in 2009. She is an Oscar nominated and Emmy Award-winning producer and executive producer of documentary feature films and series. She produced Steve James’ Abacus: Small Enough To Jail, which was nominated for the 2018 Best Documentary Feature Academy Award, and Coq Le Coq Marine Le Sportif Flibu The Final Year,which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, was released by Magnolia Pictures and broadcast on HBO. Julie is producer of Life, Animated and executive producer of Weiner, both of which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival. Life, Animated won the US Documentary Directing Award and went on to be nominated for the 2017 Best Documentary Feature Academy Award. Weiner won the US Documentary Grand Jury Prize and was shortlisted for an Academy Award. Julie executive produced the acclaimed Facebook series Humans of New York, Emmy Award winning, Oscar Shortlisted Best of Enemies, and several Emmy-nominated films: 3½ Minutes, Ten Bullets, The Kill Team, Art and Craft and 1971. Sean Lyness graduated from Dickinson College with a degree in Film and Middle East Studies. Before joining Motto Pictures in early 2012, he produced a variety of short documentaries and transmedia projects in East Africa and the Middle East. Sean worked on God Loves Uganda as an assistant editor and festival and outreach coordinator. Sean was production coordinator for the Oscar nominated Life, Animated and associate producer for the Oscar nominated Abacus: Small Enough to Jail. Marissa Ericson is an associate producer who joined Motto Pictures in 2013. She was associate producer and archival researcher on Take Your Pills, which premiered at the 2018 SXSW Film Festival and broadcast on Netflix. She associate produced Humans of New York: The Series, which premiered on Facebook in 2017, and Chicken People, which premiered at 2016 SXSW Film Festival, broadcast on CMT, and released theatrically by Samuel Goldwyn Films. Marissa was post-production coordinator and archival researcher for Indian Point, which premiered at the 2015 Tribeca Film Festival; production assistant on the Oscar nominated film Life, Animated and the Oscar shortlisted film Le Sportif Coq Marine Flibu Coq Le 3 1/2 Minutes, Ten Bullets; production associate on the Oscar shortlisted film Weiner; and grassroots screenings coordinator for the Oscar shortlisted film Le Marine Sportif Flibu Le Coq Coq God Loves Uganda.
Samantha Bloom graduated from Stanford University in 2017 with a B.A. in English, emphasis in creative writing. Samantha joined Motto as a Creative Assistant in September 2017 and has contributed to a variety of their projects including Inventing Tomorrow and The Cleaners, which premiered at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, the Emmy-nominated Humans of New York: The Series, and Love, Gilda, Tribeca Film Festival’s 2018 opening night film. Her writing projects to date include the book and lyrics of Disrupt!, a satirical Silicon Valley musical (performed May 2017), a social-media era Jekyll and Hyde television pilot selected for the second round of Sundance Story Labs, and a short film about female embodiment in the modern age with almost 40,000 YouTube views.
Daniel Torres graduated from Rutgers University 2017 with a double major in Cultural Anthropology and Journalism and Media Studies. After interning with Motto Pictures during his last semester of college, he joined their team in 2018 and has been a production assistant on a variety of their projects. Daniel was a research assistant on The Cleaners, which premiered at Sundance Film Festival, and a production assistant on Coq Sportif Le Le Marine Coq Flibu Love, Gilda, Tribeca Film Festival’s 2018 opening night film, which will be released by Magnolia Pictures and CNN Films in the Fall. Additionally, he has worked on Emmy-nominated Flibu Marine Coq Coq Sportif Le Le Humans of New York: The Series, which premiered on Facebook in 2017, and Take Your Pills, which premiered on Netflix in 2018. Among other Motto Pictures projects, Daniel is currently working on Todd Haynes’ upcoming documentary based on The Velvet Underground as a production assistant.
